It’s been awhile since I checked incoming links to Modern Musings and when I did I was awed and humbled by a downpour of love and accolades that have been collecting dust.
So since this is Valentine’s Day, I will display with pride my honors and spread the love far and wide.
I have linked award pics to their original creator.
Vanessa Byers author of Vanessa: Unplugged has named Modern Musings as one of her ten favorite blogs in a meme named Blogging it Forward. Vanessa is one of my must reads as she always expands my knowledge and makes me smile so I must include her in my ten favorite blog list.
- Vanessa: Unplugged
- Electronic Village, Wayne or da Villager continues to build the village where all opinions are weighed under the baboob tree and is an awesome supporter of my humble attempts here. He also named me as one of his favorite bloggers in an interview conducted by the lovely aforementioned Vanessa.
- Purple Zoe, author of the Ultraviolent Underground, is such a creative harborer of progressive change. Tackling the genocide in Darfur, spreading spirituality through group meditation, writing for Purple magazine and sharing upcoming independent musicians and poets is just a short dose of what to expect from this inspiring, glorious, creative goddess.
- David Swanson writes via several outlets and is a champion of progressive change and is a maverick of the impeachment movement.
- Sindoo, author of Flower Girl’s Rural India and continues to educate me on the variety of Indian culture using great photographs to capture the rasa or essence of the expressions of India. Back when I was finding my voice and going by the moniker of taureandevi, she named me just devi and this is how she continues to address me. My souped up egotistical streak took my sun sign and devi the Hindi word for goddess for this moniker and it just touches me so deeply that she refers to me as a goddess. I am so unworthy.
- Doug Basham and Lydia Cornell are hosts of Las Vegas’ only Progressive talk show which I discovered by following the mantra think globally act locally. Until I started to look for like minded Las Vegans I wrongly assumed I was the sole radical. I made my very first call to a radio talk show and have gotten comfy dialing in with my two cents. When I can’t listen live they offer audio archives and I offer you three shows for your listening pleasure. These shows aren’t random but self love {this are the shows that I called in to}, self love is always good;}. Topic depleted uranium and Kucinich, Topic: Numerology, Topic: The South Carolina Debate.
- Betsy Angert, author of Bethink.org is not only a great blogger but an equally great friend. We have spoken on the phone dishing the dirt on the Kucinich campaign, writing, the liberal vs progressive label, and so much more. She is one of my muses and a great read.
- Marde, author of Seev’s Place: Rants from the Great State of Maine writes of politics, metaphysics and life. Marde is definitely a wise elder of the liberal community and a great friend at that.
- Dirkstar, author of Eddie, are you kidding? writes with such a seasoned confidence of opine and is a prime example that even when personal politics don’t mix they don’t have to smash relationships. Dirk holds nothing back and I deeply respect him for that.
- Last but not least, I daily frequent Amy Goodman’s Democracy Now!. She continues to supply a voice to the mainstream media’s muted activists, provides in depth reporting on national and international areas of great concern, not covered anywhere else and employs the most diverse group of staffers I have ever seen. I mandate a daily dose of Democracy Now available in a wide variety of mediums for your convenience.
Marde so graciously passed on the Nice Matters Award from Barbara another great friend, author of Home in France. Nice does matter especially when speaking on topics such as politics and religion and I would like to pass this award to:
- Johnny Yen, author of Here comes Johnny Yen again
- Travis, author of Trav’s Thoughts
- Monica, author of Ramblings of a Crazy
- Barbara, author of Home in France, she deserves to get this award again, as she is nice incarnate.
- Joy, author of Musings in the Night
The wonderous, glowing, baby making machine of blogging fame Sanni, web designer extraordinaire and author of Coffee 2 Go left a gangle of awards on my doorstep. Sweet, Sweet Sanni is expecting a girl and having three boys, myself I am so happy for her.
“This award celebrates people who reach out and make the blogger community a better one. A big thank you. So in the spirit of community, I tag the following people who truly make the blogger community a better one.”
- Planet Earth Peace Party
- Darren Rowse’s Problogger
- Lighter Footstep
- Willie Nelson’s Peace Research Institute

“This award seems like a natural given what my site is all about. This award is based on positive thinking and is meant for those blogs who base their existence, in part or in whole, on Positive Winning Attitudes”

“Mark from Me And My Drum, who created this badge has this to say, “This badge is for bloggers who make their blogs their own, stay with it, interact with their readers, and have fun!”

Aussie has designed the “Bloggers With Integrity” Award:
“After looking, reading and watching many many Blogs and bloggers I decided to issue some recognition to those fellow bloggers I feel maintain integrity in the Blogs. All these bloggers incorporate within their wonderful sites, an integrity not always seen. They share terrific stories, topics, discussions and images. All Well worth a look.”
Sanni has been quite generous with the blogging accolades and I display them with pride. I want to share these with all of you who have spent time with me and my thoughts, who have offered me encouragement and support and just being you. I am not adding any rules of engagement with these small tokens of my appreciation and affection but love even link love should be spread.
So I pass on each and everyone of lovely Sanni’s accolades to these blogs and their owners all such sweet lovers of mine:

Congrats on all the awards and thanks for sharing some of it with me.
It’s tough to put your political views out there for all to see. You do it with passion and genuine thought. I respect that and it’s what keeps me coming back here.
Cheers my dear!

Hello Danielle,
How are you doing ?
Thank You so much
You have honored me again, and it’s quite flattering. Thank you also for the Integrity award. I do have a clean blog; no smut in sight !
Everyone loves good news; this one is largely beccause of the influence of many of my friends, including yourself : I’am voting this year via absentee ballot. Danielle, I haven’t voted since I left the islands !
That one I can submit up to 45 days of the Primary, held in September in Hawaii.
I have some time to think and not be hasty…
You take care and lots of hugs to ya in Vegas,
Barbara

Danielle,
Thanks so much for still listing my site even though I’ve been out of commission for nearly six months. It’s nice not to be forgotten.
And as so many others have said, you more than deserve all your awards. And I love this site. I haven’t seen it since the change so I had to track you down again, but it looks great.
