    Happy OSF! That brother is deep into his guitar! He reminds us of our constant commitment to war over the history of our country. I have to remind myself that we are currently in two wars at this very moment…

    My Old School Friday posting today features The Whispers.

    @M
    I have heard many new jams through OSF! Gotta love Fridays!

    @Villager
    Handsome Johnny makes me think it is high time we evolve from our barbaric and unempathic addiction to warfare. Peace is the revolution.

    @Dee
    Yup. It is from a 1970 documentary. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066580/. I really think his was the best performance, at least from what I got from the doc, Woodstock was before my time.

    That’s a good theme, protest or socio-political songs. I like discovering new things. I can honestly say I’ve never seen anyone play an acoustic guitar like that. This song has a lot of passion in it. You’re right he gives over his soul to the audience, that’s deep.

    Mrs. Grapevine,
    Oh I have more where this comes from. I didn’t even think to suggest a protest songs theme.

    Be well

    Man- great song choice. I was barely born when then this concert took place but I’ve seen the whole concert on video a few times. This performance was great, and there were others too by Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Sly and the Family Stone and a whole bunch of others. I wonder why there aren’t more protest songs out there now with the current word situation.

    Happy OSF and our contribution is here: http://therealready.blogspot.com/2008/04/musical-interlude-old-school-friday_18.html

    I had to ask my husband about Richie. He remembers him and instantly starting chanting “Freedom.” Great picks and thanks for broadening my horizon!
